Cherrywood in Dublin is a small but busy area in south county Dublin. It’s an upmarket residential town but it serves as the gateway to one of the busiest roads in all of Ireland – The N11.
Traffic is often busy along this road but the M50 also serves Cherrywood which makes it easier for commuters to get into Dublin city centre. There are many bus routes that serve Cherrywood, including the dart train service which goes directly into town making it an ideal location for people who work in Dublin.
It’s only a short distance from the city centre and once you’re there, Dublin has a great many things to see and places to visit. The National Concert Hall is situated in the city centre as well as Temple Bar which is one of Dublin’s most popular entertainment districts full of bars, restaurants, and nightclubs.
There are also two shopping centres nearby so if you have time to pop out and do some shopping while you’re in Dublin, Cherrywood is a great place to be.

Beggar’s Bush Barracks – This is a hugely significant landmark in Dublin but it’s also located just off the N11 in Cherrywood. This barracks dates back to 1649 when Oliver Cromwell ordered them to be built in order to keep a watchful eye on the city of Dublin.
Today, they are used as the Garda Siochana Museum and it’s a grade-A listed building. It was recently renovated and you can take a guided tour of the barracks if you’re interested in finding out more about Irish history.
Bank Of Ireland – Located on Rathfarnham Road, this bank first opened for business in 1802 and has been providing banking services to the community ever since. If you require a bank during your time in Cherrywood, this should be your first port of call. Be warned though – it’s often very busy!
